Spring Skiing in Breckenridge

Why visit our Breckenridge hotel this Spring?!

Breckenridge in the Spring!

Book your stay at our Breckenridge hotel.Us Breckenridge locals suffer (not really) through the harsh Colorado winter months because in the back of our minds we know that the best ski time of the year is always coming up in March and April. Yes, you heard it right … I just said April! While much of the country is gardening and checking out the latest spring fashions, we here at Breckenridge are still in full ski mode. Why do I say the best “ski time of the year?” Well, we have managed to survive the bitter cold temperatures of December and January, we have endured the short days and long nights, and we have succeeded in digging ourselves out of the relentless snowstorms that blanket Summit County on a continuous basis. We know that there is light at the end of the tunnel, and that light is made up of spring skiing in Breckenridge!

And, since you are viewing this page, you are already thinking about visiting Breckenridge this spring, so here are a few reasons why you should make your travel plans now and book your stay at our Breckenridge hotel:

1. Perfect Weather and Snow Conditions

Blue bird days for Breckenridge Spring SkiingLet’s face it, you are reading this because you are already thinking about visiting Breckenridge for the skiing/riding first and foremost, so let this be the most important reason you should visit us this spring. The over 200 inches of snow that fell in December and January (thanks Ullr) has provided us with a wonderful base for the inevitable snowstorms of March and April to reside on. In fact, these two spring months are typically the snowiest in the Colorado high country (insert jaw drop) and add to that the warmer temperatures (it’s not unusual for daytime highs to top 40) and longer days, and you have a recipe for a great day of shredding. Oh yeah, you typically don’t have to worry about slushy conditions either, since Breck’s elevation ranges from 9,600 ft. at the base to 12,998 ft. at the summit.

2. Save Some Serious Coin

Spring Skiing near our Breckenridge hotel. Not sure if this should’ve been first on the list or not, but you can save some serious coin on Breckenridge lodging during the spring months, especially if you take advantage of the Spring Specials at our Breckenridge Hotel. In a nutshell, you can take 15% off our published rack rates (some exceptions apply) from March 17 to April 15. Also, depending on the dates of your trip, you will save some money on those pricey lift tickets as well. That one-day ticket that cost you upwards of $171 at the lift ticket window during peak season will drop steadily by the time late March and early April arrive. And the icing on the cake … if you’re looking for some new gear, most shops are looking to move this year’s models so you can find a new jacket, boots, boards and/or skis at some pretty significant discounts.

3. Less Crowds = More Fun

After the madness of Spring Break winds down during the last week of March, people across the country start to pack up their gear for the season and start preparing for summer. This is good news for those of you that have decided to visit us during the spring. Less crowds = more fun. Lift lines are shorter, the runs aren’t crowded, and you can actually find a place to sit at an on-mountain restaurant. Speaking of on-mountain dining … what about that apres ski spring vibe?!

Spring Fever in Breckenridge

4. That Unmistakable Spring Vibe

Spring in Breckenridge COThe closing of ski season isn’t just an ending, it’s a celebration! Things just seem to get a bit “brighter” during a Breckenridge spring as the food seems to taste better, the feeling of the warm sun on your face makes you feel healthier, and the tailgating just seems sweeter. All in all, spring skiing is all about scrapping that heavy clothing, enjoying some libations on a sunny patio, and experiencing the various celebrations that signify the end of ski season. Speaking of celebrations, Breckenridge Ski Resort puts on the biggest spring party in the Rocky Mountains – aptly named Spring Fever – each year that you don’t want to miss. This month-long festival includes some of the most grueling on-mountain competitions in Colorado, Park Jams, a Spring Beer Festival, merchant discounts from participating businesses, and parties galore on and off the mountain featuring live music and other festivities. There is truly something special about springtime in Breckenridge that creates that unmistakable spring vibe!

5. Learning to Ski is Easier

Breckenridge Ski SchoolContrary to what you’ve just read, springtime is not just one big party, it can also be one of the best times for beginners and first-timers to learn to ski. The softer snow and warmer weather provide ideal slope conditions so you can focus solely on perfecting your ski and snowboard skills rather than trying to fight the elements at the same time. Let’s face it, that first time on the snow is a monumental, defining moment and you will want to have the best possible conditions to sweeten that moment. And that moment is during the spring in Breckenridge!
