  • November 3, 2017

18 Other Things to Do in Breckenridge This Winter Let’s face it, we’re no longer just a ski resort. Yes, make no mistake about it, Breckenridge Ski Resort put our old mining town on the map, but as purveyors of a slope side hotel in Breckenridge we seem to be getting more and more requests for “What else can we do this winter besides skiing or snowboarding?” And, our answer to this question is naturally “You have a variety of other options to sink your teeth into, we’re so much more than just a ski town!” So, allow me to answer this question now in more detail with my top 17 other...

  • October 10, 2017

There’s a reason – or multiple reasons for that matter – that Breckenridge is annually named one of the most picturesque holiday towns in the country. Besides the fact that we are almost guaranteed a white Christmas every year, our snowcapped ski town gets gunned up during the holidays because ski season is swinging into high gear. Besides this buzz, here are 10 other reasons to celebrate in Breck for a holiday experience of a lifetime: 1. The More the Merrier You may think you’re seeing double, triple or … but there’s more than one Santa running around in Breckenridge. Literally....

The 9 Most Common Objects Left Behind in Hotel Rooms

  • September 28, 2017

When away from home, your hotel room can be a place of many things for you … a place of relaxation, vacation bliss, solitude and a place to lay your head at the end of a busy day. While we make every attempt to return these pesky items to their rightful owners, the following is a list of the nine most common objects left at our hotel and how to avoid forgetting them in the first place: 1. Jewelry The number one item...

Welcome Brad Ragan to Our Breckenridge Hotel Team

  • September 22, 2016

'Tis the season of change. The leaves are changing colors in all of their grandeur, the weather is getting colder as the forecast of snow looms on the horizon, and a new U.S. President will be elected this November. So, it's only natural that our Breckenridge hotel follows suit as change is afoot with the hiring of our newest Guest Services Manager, Brad Ragan. Please help the Wedgewood Lodge welcome Brad to the team. A Minnesota native, Brad moved to Breckenridge 13 years ago after receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Advertising from Iowa State University and hasn't looked back since. While...

There’s Got to Be Something Magical about This Four O’Clock Hour

  • August 9, 2016

Have you ever heard of Mirabilis Jalapa? No? Me either. Perhaps maybe you have heard of them by their more popular name, “Four O’Clocks?” Still no? It’s okay, but there has got to be something magical about this four o’clock hour for a South American flower to take on this moniker, and for a Breckenridge ski run (and road) to epitomize it as well. Hold on, back to the flower for a minute. These “Four O’Clocks” are aptly named this because the flowers open in the late afternoon and stay open until morning. This Marvel of Peru pretty much does the opposite of what skiers on Peak...

Metanoia

  • January 28, 2016

My favorite event in Breck is the International Snow Sculpting Championships. Because my birthday falls during the building week or viewing week each year, watching the volunteers create the blocks of snow, seeing the sculptors’ visions emerge and checking out the finished sculptures have been part of my annual celebration for nearly two decades. As one of the lodging sponsors for this event, it’s quite a treat to get to meet the teams and to follow their progress as they create art from snow! This year we are hosting one the teams from Germany. Their sculpture, Metanoia, is guaranteed...

So Long, Farewell…

  • April 3, 2015

_________________________________________________________________ It is with a bit of a sniffle that we bid farewell to yodeling and lederhosen jokes.  And our fearless leader, Brigitte Rath, who once had the patience to try to teach me to say 'cutie' in her Austrian dialect, but I ran out of saliva on my second attempt. So, being the boss around here?  Well...let's put it this way... We're a rather, hm, interesting bunch.  And it takes a special kind of person to keep us in line.  One who isn't afraid to shred vacation requests when we get a little too rambunctious....

Don’t Ski? Don’t Worry.

  • March 6, 2015

Breckenridge is still the place for you! When I moved here from Jersey in December '99 it was because I had visited and found the mountains absolutely spiritual. I felt I was home in a way I never had before. Mind you I will bust out my Inner Jersey Girl in a hot minute if you dare mention that ridiculous show about idiots when I tell you where I'm from. I have never met anyone who acts even close to anyone on The Jersey Shore.  And I have known some Italians.  Believe you me!  Ahem. But though I'll always be a Jersey Girl, Breckenridge is where I belong. Having worked at the Wedgewood...
